weWellcare Teams with Two Other Nonprofits to Provide Food and Hygiene Kits to Goshute Indian Nation in Ibapah, Utah

weWellcare celebrates kick-off event on Goshute Indian Reservation

For our kick-off project, weWellcare was pleased to team with Building Youth Around the World and the Islamic Relief Fund, to provide food and hygiene items for the residents of the Goshute Indian Reservation in Ibapah, Utah. While Building Youth coordinated with the Islamic Relief Fund to bring 100 boxes of food to the reservation’s 30 families, weWellcare gathered hygiene item donations from individuals and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints to donate to needy families. weWellcare was able to distribute 50 hygiene kits and many other single hygiene items to tribal members, who were appreciative of the donations. In a town where the closest food and gas source is an hour drive away, having someone bring food and other goods to the families is a welcome gift.

July 9^th, 2015 was an exciting day for Steve Edwards, founder and president of weWellcare, who was able to spend time with friends from Building Youth, and make new friends with the Islamic Relief Fund representatives, as we kicked off our first project. Needs are high on the reservation, where unemployment and lack of income have created generational poverty, and being able to provide hygiene items was a gratifying first project. Since weWellcare supports good health habits, providing deserving members of the community with food and hygiene items was exactly the kind of service project we are committed to carrying out for our fellow man, and we are excited to have been a part of it. We have plans to return to the reservation to educate the children on better lifelong nutrition, exercise and self-image habits.
