Steven C. Edwards, M.S., M.H.A.
Steve founded HealthCircles™ in 2013. In 1999 he founded iWellcare™ where he manages physician preventive healthcare programs and business wellness solutions. Steve is passionate about promoting personal health and wellbeing, assisting corporations in developing money saving programs that enhance employee health and productivity, and educating physicians and patients groups in disease prevention.
With a unique work and educational background in physical and occupational therapy, Structural Integration therapy, and preventative and corrective exercise, Steve takes a specialized approach in addressing postural issues through creating customized programs combining Structural Integration, corrective exercise, yoga, and Feldenkrais techniques to balance body structure and focus the mind.
Performance enhancement psychology is integral to Steve’s work. He discovered early in his career that long-term positive lifestyle changes were only achieved through the right state of mind. This led Steve to a study of psychology and Thought Pattern Management. He found these tools beneficial in enabling clients to alter self-limiting thought patterns, acquire empowering thought processes, and more effectively accomplish goals.
Steve is enrolled in the California Institute of Integral Studies’ PhD program in transformative studies. His PhD study focuses on how integral healthcare culture and the technology that supports it can be used to improve collaboration and promote personal responsibility in order to reduce chronic disease and its cost. Steve’s education includes an M.S. degree from the California University of Pennsylvania in Injury Prevention, Athletic Performance Enhancement and Health Promotion and a master’s in health administration from Weber State University. He is a graduate of Myotherapy College in Salt Lake City, UT with a degree in manual therapy, and has a Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University. He has numerous certifications in nutrition and fitness.
Michael T. Giovanniello, M.D.
Doctor Giovanniello is the co-founder and Fellowship Program Director of The SMART Clinic™. He is a Board Certified specialist in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Pain Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Giovanniello is also fellowship trained in interventional spinal techniques and pain management.
Dr. Giovanniello diagnoses and treats all neuromusculoskeletal disorders with special interests in aggressive non-operative care of back and neck pain, sports medicine, and industrial medicine. He uses the latest techniques including x-ray guided spinal injections, minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery, electrodiagnostics, comprehensive rehabilitation programs for the diagnosis and management of these disorders. Dr. Giovanniello lectures and publishes locally and nationally on topics in his field. He has co-authored a chapter addressing the use of electrodiagnostic testing for low back pain as well as performed clinical research with x-ray guided spinal injections. Dr. Giovanniello has served as an instructor at multiple national courses for interventional spinal procedures.
Dr. Giovanniello earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University in 1990. During his undergraduate years, he participated in NCAA Division I Cross-Country and Track. Following his studies at Cornell University, he went on to The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine to earn his medical degree in 1994. After medical school, he did his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Giovanniello was selected Chief Resident for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation during his senior year. Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Giovanniello was an associate physician for The Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Phoenix, Arizona. Here, he practiced musculoskeletal medicine and served as an on-site industrial medicine physician for Motorola Corporation. Following two years in private practice, he diversified and broadened his practice by completing a fellowship in Interventional Spinal Techniques and Pain Management. After completion of his fellowship, he co-founded The SMART Clinic™ in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2001.
Thunder Jalili, PhD
Dr. Jalili is an associate professor of nutrition and exercise & sports science, college of health at the University of Utah. He has been a professor the the University of Utah since 1999 and served as as the director of the nutrition sciences program since 2006. Dr. Jalili worked as an instructor in the Columbus State Community College in Columbus Ohio from 1994-1995.
Dr. Jalili has B.S. and M.S. degrees in nutrition from Ohio State University. He received his PhD in nutrition, biochemistry & molecular biology from Ohio State University in 1996. From 1996 to 1997 Dr. Jalili received post-doctoral education from the Harvard School of Public Health as a research fellow in the department of cancer biology. He continued his post-doctoral education at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, in the department of cancer biology from 1997 to 1998.
Dr. Jalili has numerous teaching awards and honors to his credit including the Teaching Excellence award from the Columbus State Community College Department of Biological & Physical Sciences; Outstanding Teacher, Division of Nutrition, University of Utah; University of Utah College of Health New Research Investigator Award; and Distinguished Teaching Award, College of Health, University of Utah.
Dr. Jalili’s research interests include the role of phytochemicals as preventative and therapeutic agents to improve blood pressure, vascular function and cardiovascular disease risk. He has 25 publications in peer reviewed scientific and medical journals, and has regularly presented at national and international scientific and medical conferences.
Ravinder Singh, M.D., S.W.C.
Doctor Ravinder Singh is a board-certified neurologist specializing in the prevention and treatment of neurological diseases, especially stroke, headache and epilepsy.
Ravinder Singh received his medical degree in 1989 from St. George’s University, School of Medicine, in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his Neurology residency from West LA VA Medical Center/UCLA in Los Angeles, California. In 1994, he became Chief Resident in Neurology, subsequently followed by a VA Fellowship grant in Neuroscience and Traumatic Brain Injuries. During this time, he also became a Clinical Instructor in Neurology at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After completing his training, he became an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and Head of the Stroke Center at King-Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He has served as the President of the American Heart Association, LA division. He is currently in private practice in Beverly Hills, California.
